# Hostinger review 2026: the real price of the $2.99 plan, what the entry tier leaves out, and what the data shows

Hostinger's Premium, Unlimited and Cloud Startup plans priced on every billing term, the 48-month catch, the caps in the hosting agreement, and third-party uptime and speed data, sourced and dated.

## Verdict

Hostinger is one of the cheapest ways to put a small site online, and the cheapest only if you pay 48 months upfront: Premium costs $143.52 for four years, then $10.99 a month on every term. The custom hPanel is simple, the company has run since 2004 with over four million customers, and the third-party measurements we found are good. The entry plan is thin: weekly backups, two mailboxes per site, three sites, a one-year domain, and caps in the hosting agreement that the plan cards do not show. Good for beginners and budget sites that can commit; go up the range if backups and email matter.

Best for

- Beginners who want a simple panel
- Budget personal sites and blogs
- Running several small sites on one plan
- Audiences near one of its twelve data center regions

Skip it if

- You need phone support
- You want daily backups on the cheapest plan
- You do not want to pay four years upfront for the headline price

### What we liked

- **Very low entry price.** Premium is $2.99/mo on the 48-month term ($143.52 upfront), $3.49 on 24 months, $3.99 on 12 months, $11.99 monthly, all read from the plan selector on 13 October 2026.
- **Renewal is the same on every term.** Premium renews at $10.99/mo whether you bought 12 or 48 months, so the long term is purely a discount on the first period, not a trap on renewal.
- **Twelve data center regions.** Three US locations plus the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Lithuania, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brazil, per the about page.
- **Good third-party performance data.** WPBeginner (updated 10 August 2026) recorded 100% uptime over 30 days of five-minute checks, a 227 ms average response across six regions and no failed requests at 50 virtual users.
- **Long record and scale.** Founded in 2004, over four million customers in 2025, a Trustpilot score of 4.5 out of 5 from more than 67,000 reviews on 13 October 2026.

### What held it back

- **Entry plan leaves out the basics.** Premium has weekly backups, 20 GB of SSD rather than NVMe storage, two mailboxes per site, and the free domain lasts one year.
- **Caps live in the hosting agreement, not on the plan cards.** 3 GB per database, 300 databases, 300 FTP accounts, 400 cron jobs, and accounts over 30 GB are excluded from the off-site weekly backup (agreement revised 28 August 2026).
- **Big jump at renewal.** Premium goes from $2.99 to $10.99/mo, 3.7 times; Unlimited from $3.99 to $16.99, 4.3 times; Cloud Startup from $7.99 to $25.99.
- **No phone support.** Support is live chat, WhatsApp and email, with an AI agent answering first. Hostinger's help center states there is no phone number.
- **Backup wording is inconsistent.** The plan cards promise daily backups on Unlimited; the hosting agreement describes a weekly server backup that keeps two weeks. We have asked which governs.

## What did our tests show?

HostIdea has not opened its own monitoring window for Hostinger yet, so there is no HostIdea uptime or response figure on this page. The published measurements we could find are listed below, attributed to the people who ran them. This section will carry our data when a window completes.

## Is Hostinger a good web host?

For a beginner or a budget site, yes, provided you buy the right plan and understand the term. Hostinger has sold hosting since 2004, serves over four million customers, and the measurements other reviewers have published are solid. The entry plan is where the compromises sit, and the hosting agreement adds limits that the plan cards do not mention. Everything in this review is a published fact we checked on the date given, a third-party measurement cited by name, or a gap we name as a gap.

## What do the plans cost on each term?

Hostinger’s prices depend on the billing term, which you choose with a selector on the plans page. We read all four settings on 13 October 2026. Prices are in US dollars, per month, before tax; the term is paid upfront.

| Plan | Monthly | 12 months | 24 months | 48 months |

- **48 months**: $7.99/morenews $25.99/mo _Per month, USD, before tax; terms are paid upfront, and the renewal is shown under each price. Read from the official pricing page on Oct 13, 2026. [Source](https://www.hostinger.com/web-hosting)_

Two things stand out. The renewal price does not depend on the term, so the only reason to buy 48 months is the first-period discount. And the headline $2.99 is a four-year commitment; the same plan for one year is $3.99.

### Four-year cost, two ways

| Plan | 48 months upfront | 12 months, then annual renewals |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Premium | $143.52 | $47.88 + 3 × $131.88 = $443.52 |
| Unlimited | $191.52 | $59.88 + 3 × $203.88 = $671.52 |
| Cloud Startup | $383.52 | $119.88 + 3 × $311.88 = $1,055.52 |

The 48-month term saves roughly two thirds over four years if you stay. The refund window is 30 days from the transaction, so the commitment is real after the first month.

## What does each plan include?

| Plan | Websites | Storage | Backups | Mailboxes |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Premium | 3 | 20 GB | Weekly | 2 per website, free for 1 year |
| Unlimited | Unlimited | 50 GB | Daily, with restore from hPanel | Unlimited, free for 1 year |

- **Mailboxes**: 2 per website, free for 1 year Unlimited

- **Mailboxes**: Unlimited, free for 1 year Cloud Startup

- **Websites**: Unlimited
- **Storage**: 100 GB
- **Backups**: Daily and on demand
- **Mailboxes**: Unlimited, free for 1 year _From the official plan pages, checked Oct 13, 2026. [Source](https://www.hostinger.com/web-hosting)_

All three plans include a free domain for the first year on 12-month and longer terms, free SSL, priority 24/7 support and ecommerce. The CDN is included on Unlimited and Cloud Startup and listed as available on Premium. AI website-builder credits are a one-time gift: 5 on Premium, 15 on the others.

“Unlimited features are subject to our Fair Usage Policy”, the plans page says. The hosting agreement, revised on 28 August 2026, puts numbers on some of that: 3 GB per database and 300 databases, 300 FTP accounts, 400 cron jobs. Accounts over 30 GB of disk are removed from the off-site weekly backup.

The mailbox wording deserves attention. “2 mailboxes per website, free for 1 year” and “Unlimited mailboxes per website, free for 1 year” imply that email becomes a paid add-on after the first year. We could not find the post-year price on the plans page and have asked Hostinger.

## How do refunds work?

The refund policy, revised on 2 October 2026, is a flat 30-day rule: products purchased from Hostinger may be refunded only if cancelled within 30 days of the date of the transaction. Exceptions are listed: a new domain registration is refundable only within 96 hours of registration; purchases made with cryptocurrency are not refundable; refunds can be declined where the policy is abused. There is no prorated refund after day 30, which is the main difference from Flashcloud’s anytime refund.

## What does the uptime guarantee actually pay?

The hosting agreement promises 99.9 percent availability per month, about 43 minutes of allowed downtime. If Hostinger misses it, you can claim a credit of 5 percent of that month’s hosting fee toward future purchases, within 30 days of the interruption. Scheduled maintenance, problems caused by your own scripts or third-party applications, email and FTP outages, DNS and caching issues, and DDoS attacks are excluded. On a $2.99 plan, the credit is about 15 cents, so treat the guarantee as a statement of intent rather than compensation.

## How fast and reliable is it?

Hostinger has the deepest pool of published measurements of any host in this set, and they agree with each other.

HostingStep’s review by Mohan Raj, updated on 7 September 2026, monitored a Premium and a Business site in Hostinger’s North Carolina data center with Pingdom every 60 seconds from 1 October 2025 to 31 May 2026:

- 99.98 percent uptime on both plans over the 243 days.
- An average TTFB of 447 milliseconds on Premium and 438 on Business from 19 North American locations.
- Under Loader.io, 245 milliseconds on Premium and 31 on Business.
- Global cached TTFB of 404 milliseconds (Premium) and 351 (Business). The page also publishes calendar-year uptime since 2021: 99.79 percent in 2021, rising to 99.99 percent in 2024 and 2025.

Kripesh Adwani’s review, updated on 6 October 2026, runs four Hostinger sites under Better Uptime with 30-second checks. Over the last 365 days: 99.96 percent for a Business plan in New York, 99.95 percent for Business in Singapore, 99.97 percent for Business in India and 99.96 percent for a Startup plan in Singapore. The US site handled a k6 run at 50 virtual users with a 79 millisecond 95th-percentile response and no failed requests.

WPBeginner’s review, rebuilt around July 2026 test data and updated on 10 August 2026:

- 100 percent uptime over 30 days of UptimeRobot checks every five minutes.
- A 227 millisecond average response time across six regions, with North America, Europe and Asia strong and South America the slowest at 440 milliseconds.
- A k6 load test at 50 virtual users with a 21 millisecond 95th-percentile response time and no failed requests.
- GTmetrix Largest Contentful Paint of 659 milliseconds and a full page load of 1.1 seconds on 21 July 2026.

Website Planet’s review by Andrés Gánem, updated on 2 June 2026, ran a Premium site in a US data center: 100 percent uptime over a month on UptimeRobot, a fully loaded time of about 0.8 seconds in GTmetrix and a TTFB “typically around 0.2s”. HostScore’s review, updated on 17 September 2026, reports average uptime of 99.95 percent or higher across its shared and cloud test sites without publishing its intervals.

Read together: a year of 30-second checks lands between 99.95 and 99.97 percent, the eight-month Pingdom window at 99.98, and the short windows at 100. Response times depend on who measures and from where: 200 to 230 milliseconds in the six-region and GTmetrix tests, about 440 from HostingStep’s US-only Pingdom probes. Both are ordinary for shared hosting; neither is slow.

## How good is the support?

Support is 24/7 live chat from the account or help center, WhatsApp, and email to [support@hostinger.com](mailto:support@hostinger.com) with a reply within one business day. In the dashboard, an AI agent called Hostinger Agent answers first and a human Customer Success Specialist joins if needed. Hostinger says it responds in under two minutes on average. There is no phone support; the help center says so plainly.

We have not timed tickets ourselves yet and will add real tickets with timestamps to the support table on this page. Public sentiment is large and positive: Trustpilot showed a 4.5 out of 5 TrustScore from 67,061 reviews on 13 October 2026, which is a sample size few hosts match.

## Who owns Hostinger, and where is it?

Hostinger is a private company founded in November 2004 in Kaunas, Lithuania, as Hosting Media, and headquartered in Vilnius. The about page says a private equity firm holds a minority stake of around 30 percent and the rest stays with the founders and team, and that the company has never been publicly listed. It passed three million customers in 2024 and four million in 2025. Offices are listed in Kaunas, Vilnius, Luxembourg and Yogyakarta.

Data centers: Phoenix, Boston and Asheville in the United States; the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Lithuania; India, Indonesia and Malaysia; and Brazil. The Hostinger CDN adds coverage in Japan, Sydney and Johannesburg.

## What is missing or unclear?

- The post-first-year price of mailboxes.
- Whether the “daily backups” on Unlimited are the hPanel restore points or the weekly server backup described in the hosting agreement.
- Which data center the published third-party tests used.
- Per-account CPU and RAM limits, which the plans page does not state.
- HostIdea’s own monitoring, support timing and load testing have not started.

## Who should choose Hostinger, and who should look elsewhere?

Choose it if you are starting out, want a panel that does not look like cPanel, and can pay four years upfront for a small site. Buy Unlimited rather than Premium if you need more than three sites, daily restore points or real email.

Look elsewhere if you want daily backups and a lifetime domain on the cheapest plan, or if you expect to call someone. If you do not want a 48-month commitment, compare the 12-month price ($3.99) against other hosts’ annual prices rather than the headline.

## How we scored this review

The scores on this page are provisional. Uptime and performance rest on WPBeginner’s and HostScore’s published measurements, which are consistent with each other and with Hostinger’s long record. Features reflect the thin entry plan and the caps in the hosting agreement. Value weighs the very low first-term price against the renewal and the commitment required. Support reflects the channels, the public rating sample and the lack of phone support, not timed tickets. Each score will be recomputed when our own data exists, and the review history on this page will show the change.
