No HostIdea monitoring window is open for these hosts yet. Uptime and response are published third-party measurements, one per host by a fixed rule (longest stated independent window, and its response figure or the most recent one); methods differ, so read them as a guide. Each review lists every source with its method.

This is not a ranking of VPS plans. We have not yet priced the VPS products at these hosts, and we will not rank what we have not read. It is a ranking of the upgrade path: when a shared plan runs out, which host lets you move to a VPS or cloud server without changing panel, region or provider, and what that next tier looks like on their own pages.

Two hosts have a priced step above shared in our data already: ScalaHosting’s Entry Cloud and Hostinger’s Cloud Startup. The rest sell VPS or cloud products we describe from their product ranges only. When VPS plans are added to the host files with verified prices, this list will be rebuilt as a VPS ranking proper.

## Frequently asked questions

- **### When should I move from shared hosting to a VPS?**: When the host's own limits start to bite: sustained CPU warnings, a database over the plan's cap, or a visit count above the plan's guidance. Most hosts here publish those limits; a VPS removes them in exchange for managing more yourself.

- **### Does a managed VPS cost much more than shared?**: Typically three to ten times the shared renewal price. The two cloud plans in our data are $14.95 a month (ScalaHosting Entry Cloud, 36-month term, $39.95 after) and $7.99 (Hostinger Cloud Startup, 48-month term, $25.99 after).

- **### Why is SiteGround near the bottom?**: Because it sells cloud plans but no VPS, so there is no server of your own to grow into on the same platform. It is a good host; the step up is a different product.
