No HostIdea monitoring window is open for these hosts yet. Uptime and response are published third-party measurements, one per host by a fixed rule (longest stated independent window, and its response figure or the most recent one); methods differ, so read them as a guide. Each review lists every source with its method.

Developers want a shell, a version control hook, a runtime beyond PHP and a way to build without touching production. This list ranks the nine hosts on what their plan pages actually list, read on 13 October 2026. A host that has a feature but does not publish it on the plan page ranks on the page, because that is what a buyer sees.

The surprise at the top is the API angle: one host (Hosting.com) exposes an MCP server so an AI assistant can manage the account and publishes an OpenAPI spec. Nobody else on the list does.

## Frequently asked questions

- **### Which of these hosts let me run Node.js on shared hosting?**: InMotion (every plan), FastComet (shared plans) and Hosting.com (from Pro), as listed on their plan pages.

- **### Do any offer PostgreSQL on shared plans?**: None of the hosts on this list advertises PostgreSQL on shared plans; they list MySQL only or do not say.

- **### Is staging a developer feature or a WordPress feature?**: Both. It is WordPress staging on every host that lists it (Hosting.com, SiteGround from GrowBig, Flashcloud, Bluehost, HostPapa). Non-WordPress staging means a second site on the plan.
